THE WRITING WORKSHOP

Founded by award winning author Bernard Cohen in 2006, The Writing Workshop runs in-school, after-school, holiday and online workshops for young people of all school ages. We have now worked with over 45,000 children throughout NSW, a large proportion in the inner-west specialising in running intensive small-group writing workshops for young people aged 5-18.

In December 2014, The Writing Workshop was accredited by the Board of Studies and Teaching Educational Standards (BOSTES) NSW to run teacher professional development (TPD) courses. Dr Bernard Cohen will help you create brilliant stories, poems and scripts, discover new techniques and find renewed motivation. Furthermore Bernard actively:

• conduct small group (up to 18 students) school incursions,
• run TPD courses as accredited by the Board of Studies and Teaching Educational Standards,
• provide space for creative writing and research by graduates,
• shift administrative work to the space, and
• if deemed practicable and safe (given child protection and supervision requirements), shift our existing teenage workshops from elsewhere in Leichhardt.

We also engage with passing traffic through providing window displays (and, potentially, publications), including young people’s creative writing with a focus on those from the local area.
